Nuclear Bombs
In 1959 - 1980, North Korea started to create nuclear bombs with the help from the Soviet Union. As North Korea continued to make more nuclear weapons, other countries became aware of it. Even though North Korea signs a treaty with some countries to stop making anymore weapons, the treaties never lasts. Since North Korea is one of the most isolated countries in the world, we know little of their nuclear developments.
In 2006, 2009, and 2013, North Korea experimented their nuclear weapons. It is sure that North Korea is improving their long ranged attacks, making it more durable, and putting more deadly chemicals with the nuclear weapons.

Nuclear Bomb Experiments
On October 9, 2006, the first North Korean nuclear weapon testing occurred. They gave a six days prior to warn every countries that they were going to do a nuclear testing. It had an explosive force of less than one kiloton (1,000 metric tons). This attack was the first threat to start a war. Japan tightened its security. South Korea said they were ensuring their soldiers were prepared for a nuclear war. Even in the soldiers guarding the borders between North and South Korea were being threatened. A U.S soldier said a North Korean soldier were trying to provoke them by spitting at the border line, making throat-slashing hand gesture, flashing their middle fingers, and trying to talk to their troops. On October 20, 2006, Kim Jong il said he was 'sorry' for the nuclear testing.
On May 25, 2009, the second nuclear weapon testing was launched. Scientists said it was 2.36 kilotons. North Korea threatened this attack in protest after the United Nations Security Council adopted a presidential statement condemning the country after it launched a rocket April 5, 2009. The United States, South Korea, and Japan all thought that the rocket was a trial to launch an international ballistic missile in the future. As a result, after the rocket's launch, the rocket was sharply condemned by the United States and other European Union. On April 14, 2009, North Korea said that condemning the launch was a violation against a country's right for space exploration and withdrew from Six party Talks.
On February 12, 2013, North Korea conducted their third nuclear testing. It had conducted an underground nuclear test. The China Earthquake Networks Center detected that the nuclear bomb had a magnitude of 5.1. The explosive force was 6-9 kilotons. It is still unclear when the next North Korean nuclear testing will appear.
